Why I'm starting to write
In Mexico, or at least in my city, we have people of every kind. Some are extraordinary. Others, not so much. But the more I look around, the more I'm convinced we're missing something that doesn't show up on any balance sheet: a cultural change.
I mean the quiet belief that what you set out to do can actually be done. In a lot of places that belief is missing, and without it talent just sits there. People lower their aim before they even try.
A change like that isn't one person's job. It belongs to all of us, and it gets built one example at a time. I don't have the answer, and I'm not pretending to. But I'd rather add my grain of sand than wait for someone else to fix it.
So that's why I'm writing. I want to leave a record—honest, sometimes wrong—of how things actually get built: the debt, the false starts, the work. If even one person reads it and aims higher, it was worth it.
We usually hear about people who already made it. I think it's just as useful to hear from someone still on the road, walking it alongside you.
What I'm after is a society with more winners. Not in the sense of beating others, but in the sense of people who know that what they set their mind to is within reach. This is my small contribution to that. A public notebook, out in the open.
Por qué empiezo a escribir
En México, o al menos en mi ciudad, tenemos gente de todo tipo. Algunos son extraordinarios. Otros, no tanto. Pero entre más miro alrededor, más me convenzo de que nos falta algo que no aparece en ningún estado financiero: un cambio cultural.
Me refiero a esa creencia silenciosa de que lo que te propones de verdad se puede lograr. En muchos lugares esa creencia no existe, y sin ella el talento se queda quieto. La gente baja la mira antes siquiera de intentarlo.
Un cambio así no es trabajo de una sola persona. Es de todos, y se construye de ejemplo en ejemplo. No tengo la respuesta, y no pretendo tenerla. Pero prefiero poner mi granito de arena que esperar a que alguien más lo resuelva.
Por eso escribo. Quiero dejar un registro —honesto, a veces equivocado— de cómo se construyen las cosas en realidad: la deuda, los arranques en falso, el trabajo. Si aunque sea una persona lo lee y apunta más alto, valió la pena.
Casi siempre escuchamos a quienes ya lo lograron. Creo que vale igual oír a alguien que sigue en el camino, andándolo junto a ti.
Lo que busco es una sociedad con más ganadores. No en el sentido de vencer a otros, sino de gente que sabe que lo que se propone está a su alcance. Esta es mi pequeña contribución a eso. Un cuaderno público, a la vista de todos.
